Inspired by such artists as Salvador Dalí and Antonio Gaudi, Disney’s Gran Testino tower at Coronado Springs is a spectacle to behold.
The soaring pillars of the lobby combined with the modernist colors and themes will make you feel as though you have been transported to Barcelona or Madrid – or Toledo, one of Disney’s newest signature restaurants, at the top of the tower.
As you would expect Disney has gone above and beyond on the theming of this resort. While not a truly transformative feel like the Polynesian or Animal Kingdom Lodge, the Spanish influences are visually everywhere – from smaller sitting areas (complete with a not-so-hidden Mickey) throughout the majestic lobby (where ALL Coronado Springs guests will now check in in) all the way down to the stained glass effect of the new Barcelona lounge.
There are a number of food options right at the tower, plus more to be found in other areas of the resort.
- The Barcelona lounge (one level down from the lobby) features assorted pastries and other breakfast items until 11am; after that you can get specialty cocktails and a few tapas well into the evening.
- The Dahlia lounge (on the top level) features a larger selection of tapas than the Barcelona lounge, as well as a large selection of Spanish wines, sangria, and other cocktails.
Toledo is one of Walt Disney World’s newest restaurants, located at the top of Gran Destino tower (right across from Dahlia lounge) and all we can say is…WOW! Starting with the design – which features olive trees under a stained glass ceiling that changes colors throughout your meal – all the way through the tapas and main dish selections, Toledo made it onto our ‘must-do’ list after just one meal!
Though Coronado Springs is traditionally considered a ‘moderate’ resort by Disney standards, the Gran Destino Tower is what we would consider a more ‘deluxe’ option (with more deluxe prices as well). The rooms are sleek and stylish, with modern amenities and Spanish style design influences.
We plan to make this our next stay for sure!
