If you’ve been following along you know we spent a few days last week in Walt Disney World. As excited as we were, we were also very curious how it would feel in terms of safety. We are beyond thrilled to report that the safety protocols implemented by Disney made us feel very comfortable while on Disney property.
A major cornerstone of the Walt Disney Travel Company is the safety of their guests in every capacity. If Disney has made a decision to do something, know it has not been made lightly. Disney has done an excellent job of creating a comfortable atmosphere for their guests where face coverings and physical distancing are enforced throughout the parks and on Disney property.
TRANSPORTATION – Each of the various modes of Disney transportation have been modified to provide a safe way of getting to and from the parks. Busses have divided areas, monorails have a two party limit per section, ferry boats have distancing between the seats, and Skyliner riders will have one gondola per party.
AT THE PARKS – You will have your temperature taken prior to entering the park and some dining locations.
There are three distinct notices prior to entering the parks:
There is no shortage of physical markers on the ground to keep parties 6 feet apart on all types of lines for entrance into the parks, rides, PhotoPass opportunities, and dining locations.
On some rides where lines may present a challenge to physical distancing, Disney has installed plexiglass to divide the different sections.
There are hand sanitizer dispensing stations everywhere you turn, especially before and after each ride. There is physical distancing on every ride as well with rows skipped between parties.
Cast members carry signs throughout the park reminding guests to keep their face coverings on at all times.
Disney has made a tremendous effort to keep everyone safe at the parks and take the face coverings rule very seriously. Some people might not agree with how strict they are being, but it definitely made us feel at ease knowing everyone was keeping their germs to themselves.
FLYING – You may be wondering how did it feel actually getting to Walt Disney World? We flew Delta out of JFK in New York. Upon arriving at the airport we put on both an N95 and surgical mask. We also wore sunglasses to shield our eyes and kept everything on until we were safely outside the Orlando airport.
GETTING FROM MCO TO WDW – We opted for a private driver to minimize mass transportation from the airport to Disney property. Saeed Bacchus from Pegasus Professional Transportation picked us up in his spotless SUV. In fact, we arranged his services for various rides throughout our stay, making it both a private and convenient way to get around. Your ET Family Travel agent can arrange this transportation option when putting together an itinerary.
Feeling comfortable traveling is a personal decision, but when you are ready to go know that Disney is doing their absolute best to keep you safe!
