While you might be vacationing in Fantasyland, reality may still pop up during your Disney vacation. Kids getting sick during your magical getaway can be frustrating and potentially derail even the best made plans, but there are multiple options to get help.
URGENT CARE CENTERS: There are four urgent care centers very close to Disney. You should be able to get this pamphlet at the front desk of your resort:
During our last vacation one of our sons spiked a 103 fever. In the morning Mike brought him to the Lake Buena Vista location in an uber that took no more than ten minutes. His rapid strep came back positive and they had antibiotics on the spot. It was about an hour and a half door to door.
MEDICAL CONCIERGE URGENT CARE: If you are up for a more concierge service check out: http://www.themedicalconcierge.com
With this concierge service a doctor will come directly to your hotel room within a few hours of your initial call. They accept most insurance plans and will provide meds on the spot. Please double check they take your insurance prior to making the appointment.
HOSPITAL: If your symptoms are severe and you need an emergency room, the AdventHealth Hospital in Celebration is ten minutes from WDW. My extended family has also been to this ER and it was “very clean and modern.” Here is a link that I hope you will not have to use while on vacation: https://www.adventhealth.com
GIFT SHOPS AT YOUR RESORT: If you just need regular medications like Advil, Tylenol, Imodium, Tums, cold medicine, Benadryl, etc. you should be able to purchase at the gift shops at your resort. There is also a small shop in Disney Springs where the purchase of Children’s Claritin saved Grant on one of our vacations!
FIRST AID CENTER IN THE PARKS: If you find yourself in the parks not feeling well there are first aid centers where you can lie down, get a few over-the-counter medications, or a bandage. A quick pit-stop might be all you need to keep your vacation moving along smoothly.
Hopefully you will not need this information while you are away, but rest assured help is close by should you need it. Oh, and by the way, Grant was not sick in the picture above, he was just being cranky. Don’t feel sorry for him, he had a great vacation.
